Building and Launching Courses: 3. Offerings
Course offerings are the final step in making your DigitalChalk courses available to students. An offering allows you to deploy your content, control registration settings, and provide essential information about the course to potential learners. Here’s how to create and manage course offerings effectively:
Creating a Course Offering
To create a course offering:
1. Navigate to the Create menu from the left navigation panel.
2. Click on “Offerings” from the sublist.
3. Click the “Add Offering” button.
4. Select the course you want to offer and give the offering a title.
5. Click “Continue” to proceed to the offering details page.

Configuring Offering Details:
On the offering details page, you’ll find several tabs to customize your offering.
- Details: Enter general information such as the offering title, keywords, and maximum number of students.
- Descriptions: Write a comprehensive course description, including goals and learning objectives.
- Dates: Set the availability period and registration deadlines for the course.
- Categories: Assign the course to relevant categories for easy organization and discovery.
- Thumbnail: Upload a 640 x 360 px image to visually represent your course.
- Facilitators: If applicable, select instructors who can review, change, and assign grades for this course.
Registration Settings
The registration settings are crucial for determining how students will access your course:
- Price: Choose between charging individual students or using your organization’s account balance, as applicable.
- Catalog Visibility: Decide whether to include the offering in your public catalog or restrict it to administrator-managed registration.
- Pricing: If charging students directly, set the course price.
Activating the Offering
Once you’ve configured all the necessary details:
1. Review all the information entered across the various tabs.
2. Click the “Save” button to finalize and publish your course offering.
Remember that you can create multiple offerings for a single course, allowing you to tailor the delivery, pricing, or availability to different groups of students or time periods.
By carefully setting up your course offerings, you can effectively control how your content is presented, priced, and made available to your target audience, ensuring a smooth registration process for your learners.
